Pool Parking Lot signs

Got some new signs for the pool parking lot area to help deter loiters.

Door to Door Salesman

Have you had to deal with salespeople that are extremely pushy and operate in a similar manner to that of magazine sales representatives? Are you sure of the company’s legitimacy?

If someone is soliciting within the city of Raleigh, the business has to have a privilege license and each representative is to have a copy of that license when going door-to-door. No company has any agreement with the police department, as the Raleigh Police Department does not enter into agreements with merchants to allow them to operate. These door-to-door sales companies typically operate on commission only and employ people that are transient in nature.

Do not open your door for someone you do not know. In addition, if someone (solicitors included) comes onto your property and you do not want them there, you can order them to leave and if they do not leave they are trespassing. You can also request to see their city privilege license, as they are supposed to have it in possession.

If someone is in the neighborhood you can always call 911 and notify the police so that they can respond to investigate it and address any legal issues associated with their activity.

Community Watch

After more than 10 years, we have started a Community Watch in our neighborhood.

The decision was made based on some vandalism in the pool area and other parts of our neighborhood. A flyer was sent out and we had a successful meeting on August 16th at the pool. The Raleigh Police Department was there and gave out some useful information on the theme of being prepared.

What is a Community Watch? A Community Watch is a partnership between citizens and the Raleigh Police Department, who work together to help make neighborhoods more safe and enjoyable. Does it work? Block Watch groups help reduce crime and the fear of crime through increased communication among neighbors who then "watch" out for each other. Members assist police by being the eyes, ears, and problem solvers in their neighborhoods. We have one Block Watch Captain and could use more Captains along with additional participants.
